Toronto club charged after allegedly hosting more than 125 people indoors on Friday

The proprietor of a club in downtown Toronto has been charged after allegedly hosting more than 125 people final week, with none social distancing measures in place, in line with police.

Police say that on June 26, officers turned conscious that Goldie night time club, positioned close to King and Portland streets within the metropolis’s Fashion District, was working indoors in violation of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA).

The club has no out of doors patio or seating areas and doesn’t have a allow for out of doors service of any sort, police stated. Investigators allege that patrons had been allowed entry by means of the rear of the club and 125 to 150 people had been noticed to be contained in the institution.

“There were no social distancing measures enforced,” police stated in a information launch issued Tuesday.

Police say that the proprietor, supervisor and company behind Goldie night time club shall be charged with failing to adjust to an order made throughout a declared emergency.

The incident was investigated by Toronto police and data has been forwarded to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
